PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing consistent reporting on ADL’s earned media presence, tracking ADL mentions across the entire news ecosystem and ensuring that broadcast media appearances are captured through search engines and other online research tools. The role also involves monitoring the news media throughout the day to identify opportunities for the organization to weigh in on timely and critical issues adjacent to our mission. Responsibilities will include preparing daily clips reports, compiling news links for daily and weekly news summaries, analyzing data and trends using online communications software platforms, and assisting the communications team with related tasks.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Regularly monitor online news sites, search engines, social media and other tech platforms for news coverage of ADL.
  • Follow journalists and influencers on social media platforms to identify breaking news stories and other opportunities for the organization to jump into the conversation, and provide recommendations for messaging.
  • Collaborate internally and update news-related content on website..
  • Produce media coverage reports and distribute news stories mentioning ADL across teams.
  • Analyze, interpret and report out data and metrics on earned media coverage.
  • Maintain online communications and research platforms to assess the organization’s impact and measure campaign results.
  • Support the creation of communication materials during crises.
  • Participate in creative brainstorms.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Familiarity with a wide range of media; in-depth knowledge of major players in the news media and an understanding of the news cycle and what “makes” news.
  • Communicate effectively with constituents across all levels of an organization.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; adaptable tone/style for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of national and international events and issues of concern to the Jewish community.
  • Working knowledge of online media monitoring software tools; an ability to adapt to new technologies quickly and a strong working knowledge of video editing tools and spreadsheets.
  • An eagerness to learn about our industry from some of the best in the business.
  • Experience with and passion for policy and issues advocacy a plus.

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism and/or communications, an intuitive understanding of the news cycle and social media, and an ability to effectively identify, monitor and track developing news stories in real time.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment:

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role will require 3 days in the office.

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $60,000 to $70,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in (New York, NY).
