PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Director of Messaging Research within the Center for Antisemitism Research leads efforts to turn rigorous research into effective messaging. This role is responsible for communicating actionable research findings both within the ADL and to allied groups, ensuring that messaging to counter antisemitism is backed by testing, and expanding the use of message testing to new adopters. The Director is part researcher and part strategist, able to translate the work of research teams for communicators and vice versa.

Responsibilities

Primary: 

  • Serve as a strategic thought leader for the Center’s research agenda on messaging,
  • messengers/validators and targeting.
  • Collaborate with Center’s researchers to define desired outcomes of messaging (dependent variables) and ensure alignment with ADL’s goals.
  • Collaborate and advise on the selection and design of quantitative and qualitative methodologies to ensure the right tools are applied to the right research questions.
  • Deliver briefings, presentations, and memos to stakeholders inside and outside
  • ADL to communicate the Center’s findings and equip communicators with effective messaging.
  • Create a change management process prioritizing a culture of testing inside ADL and with allied groups to ensure that messaging is validated before it is deployed.
  • Consult on the development of AI-powered products that stakeholders can use to ensure that their messaging is aligned with the Center’s recommendations.
  • Manage a Research Assistant who contributes to message testing, data analysis, and preparation of presentations and memos.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Track record of persuading decision-makers to adopt research-based strategic recommendations
  • Ability to communicate technical research to non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing the full life cycle of messaging research projects
  • Deep understanding of and experience with qualitative and quantitative methods such as focus groups, survey research, and randomized control trials
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has extensive experience and a demonstrated track record of growth and promotion in messaging research for mission-driven organizations such as campaigns and advocacy groups.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in a social science, quantitative field or equivalent work experience required.

 

Work Environment: 

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $80,000 to $120,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York.
