POSITION TITLE: Vice President, Marketing 

REPORTS TO: SVP, Development  

SUPERVISION: 

  • Directly manages the Marketing leadership team 
  • Oversees all internal marketing staff and external agency relationships 

LOCATION: Anywhere ADL has an Office (strong preference for NY) 

GRADE: Grade K, Exempt, Non-Union

PRIMARY FUNCTION 

 

The Vice President of Marketing leads all strategic marketing initiatives and brand management for the organization. This executive oversees integrated marketing strategies spanning digital platforms, content marketing, brand development, and data-driven campaigns. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this executive will shape organizational vision, drive measurable impact, and support sustainable revenue growth through innovative marketing approaches. 

Responsibilities

Primary Objectives: 

  • Develop and execute a compelling, cohesive brand narrative that resonates with all stakeholders; 
  • Create and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that leverages emerging technologies and platforms; 
  • Build and lead high-performing marketing teams focused on innovation and measurable results; 
  • Collect and disseminate highlights about the impact of ADL’s work;  
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the organization on all brand positioning and marketing initiatives; 
  • Drive digital transformation across all marketing functions. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

Digital Marketing & Innovation 

  • Direct all digital marketing strategies including website optimization, SEO/SEM, email marketing, and emerging platforms; 
  • Spearhead the development of a comprehensive marketing technology stack that enables personalization and automation; 
  • Implement advanced analytics frameworks to measure campaign effectiveness and optimize resource allocation; 

 

Content Strategy & Thought Leadership 

  • Oversee the creation of compelling, multi-channel content that positions the organization as an industry authority; 
  • Develop thought leadership programs that showcase organizational expertise and drive engagement; 
  • Implement content personalization strategies based on audience segmentation and behavioral data; 
  • Establish editorial calendars and content governance frameworks that ensure quality and consistency; 
  • Collaborate with program teams to translate complex initiatives into compelling marketing narratives; 

 

Brand Management and Marketing Leadership 

  • Develop and evolve the organization's brand architecture and brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all touchpoints; 
  • Lead innovative initiatives that maintain brand relevance with current audiences while attracting new demographics; 
  • Conduct regular brand health assessments and implement strategic adjustments based on market insights; 
  • Establish brand performance metrics and reporting frameworks that demonstrate ROI and business impact; 
  • Support key national events across the country including total leadership (e.g. end-to-end planning, production and execution) of annual Never Is Now conference, our organization’s flagship annual event. Responsibilities include overseeing all logistics, vendor relationships, budget management and cross-functional coordination to deliver exceptional experiences that advance business objectives and strengthen stakeholder relationships.   
  • Cross-collaborate with Communications team to elevate brand voice across social media channels.  

 

Marketing Operations & Team Leadership 

  • Build and mentor a diverse, high-performing marketing team with specialized expertise across key disciplines; 
  • Develop and manage the annual marketing budget with clear accountability for ROI; 
  • Establish agile marketing processes that enable rapid testing, learning, and optimization; 
  • Oversee vendor relationships and agency partnerships to augment internal capabilities; 
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

 

Data-Driven Marketing & Analytics 

  • Implement comprehensive marketing analytics frameworks that connect activities to business outcomes; 
  • Develop customer journey mapping and experience design strategies based on behavioral insights; 
  • Lead market research initiatives to identify emerging trends, audience needs, and competitive positioning; 
  • Create executive dashboards that communicate marketing performance and business impact; 
  • Champion data-driven decision making across all marketing functions. 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience building and revitalizing brands in complex, multi-stakeholder environments; 
  • Demonstrated success leading digital transformation within marketing organizations; 
  • Expert knowledge of modern marketing technology platforms and digital marketing strategies; 
  • Deep understanding of data analytics and performance measurement methodologies; 
  • Experience managing integrated campaigns across paid, earned, shared, and owned media; 
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills; 
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities; 
  • Collaborative leadership style with experience managing cross-functional teams; 
  • Strategic vision balanced with operational excellence; 
  • Adaptability and resilience in navigating complex organizational environments.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • The ideal candidate has a decade or more of progressive experience in senior marketing leadership roles and is able to demonstrate a Track record of driving organizational transformation through marketing excellence. 

 

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred, or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Professional certifications in relevant marketing disciplines a plus. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.  

 

COMPENSATION:  

  • This position has a salary range of $225,000 to $240,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in (New York, NY). Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
