POSITION TITLE: Director, Operations 

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Center for Antisemitism Research 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Potentially fellows, contractors, interns and 1-4 staff 

LOCATION: Anywhere ADL has an office 

Grade/Class: Grade H, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

 

We are seeking an experienced leader as the Director of Operations to join the Center's team. This pivotal role will drive the day-to-day projects and special initiatives of the Center. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in leadership, research administration, or nonprofit management, with a deep commitment to advancing knowledge and practice in the field of antisemitism research.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with ADL leadership to develop and implement the Center’s strategic goals.
  • Partner with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure development of a bi-directional research agenda

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily operations and project management to ensure efficient and effective execution of initiatives.
  • Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and staffing, fostering an environment of operational excellence.

Research and Program Oversight:

  • Support and mentor research teams to ensure high-quality outputs and innovative approaches.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary research projects and cultivate partnerships with academic institutions, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

Team Development:

  • Mentor staff and emerging leaders, promoting a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and diversity.
  • Implement initiatives to foster an inclusive work environment that respects and values diverse perspectives.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with a capacity to engage diverse stakeholders effectively and diplomatically.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Work Experience

  • The ideal candidate has extensive experience in senior leadership roles, such as academic administration, nonprofit management, or research program leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects.

Education

  • Advanced degree (Master’s, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant field such as social sciences, humanities, public policy, or related disciplines is preferred, equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in, or familiarity with, issues related to antisemitism, hate studies, or related research areas is advantageous.

 

Work Environment:  

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office. 

 

Compensation:  

  • This position has a salary range of $86,000 to $138,000. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations. For an overview of our total rewards package, please visit https://www.adl.org/about/careers.
