PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Serve as the Tampa Bay area’s on-the-ground in-community representative and primary point of contact with volunteers, law enforcement, government officials, religious and community leaders. Engage current supporters and cultivate new relationships to increase awareness of ADL’s work and identify development, programmatic and partnership/coalition-building opportunities. 

Responsibilities

Primary: 

  • Build relationships with Jewish and non-Jewish community organizations to establish ADL's voice in the region on antisemitism and combatting hate on all fronts.
  • Serve as the visible spokesperson for ADL Florida during interactions with community partners and coalitions, with media, and promoting public awareness of ADL’s mission and work.
  • Oversee constituent services, ensuring discrimination/bias complaints and incidents are received and addressed within the region with appropriate consultation with area counsel, division support, and other appropriate subject matter experts at ADL. Elevate visibility to local media, when appropriate.
  • Promote visibility and leadership of ADL in the community, establishing and maintaining relationships with appropriate community institutions and leaders, university officials, legislators and government officials, media representatives, law enforcement personnel, ethnic and interfaith group leaders, and the Jewish community. Identify and promote opportunities for joint programming with current or prospective community-based partners.
  • Partner with regional development staff to grow the region’s fundraising base in the Tampa Bay area, including stewarding relationships with current supporters, identifying prospective donors, and developing opportunities to engage the community in meeting regional fundraising goals.
  • Recruit, engage and work with volunteer leadership. Establish guidelines for including volunteer leaders in regional activities and advisory boards. Identify community leaders for involvement and recruitment to ADL.
  • Participate in government affairs activities, maintaining regular contact with state, local and national officials. Advocate for ADL issues in state and local legislature.
  • Track relevant issues and provide regular updates to regional (and divisional) staff. Identify opportunities for the region to strategically engage. 
  • Promote and facilitate implementation of nationwide ADL programs and policies tailored to local community needs and issues.
  • Identify opportunities to communicate and promote ADL’s work to ADL supporters and stakeholders in the Tampa Bay area.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate ADL’s mission, programs, and engagement opportunities with various stakeholders.  
  • Highly organized, detail and goal oriented.   
  • Problem-solving, thoughtful decision-making, and the ability to take initiative, be assertive and prioritize is needed for success.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and work both independently and as part of a team.  
  • Comfort in working with colleagues in person and remotely across the country.   
  • Working familiarity and comfort in database systems, reporting, and analysis essential. Reasonable level of experience using Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and comfort learning new technology.   

Work Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate has 3 or more years’ experience in program management, business development, fundraising and/or relationship cultivation. 
  • Demonstrable experience convening groups, setting goals, and keeping groups on-task. 
  • Previous work in a non-profit environment a plus.  
  • Knowledge of the Tampa Bay area’s non-profit, faith based, foundation, and/or corporate communities a plus. 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.   

Work Environment: 

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office. 

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $70,000 to $90,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Tampa, Florida. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
