PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

This position is an integral member of the Government Relations, Advocacy and Community Engagement (GRACE) team. The Community Engagement Associate Director will share responsibility for facilitating and coordinating a robust community engagement strategy for ADL, with a particular focus on building relationships with lay leaders, youth leaders, other volunteers, and community partners. They will be responsible for managing and implementing strategies that mobilize people to advocate and volunteer with ADL and in furtherance of ADL goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Campaigns and Outreach and the GRACE team to build enhanced grasstops and, as appropriate, grassroots organizing and deployment at ADL.
  • Assist in the execution of ADL federal and state lobby days, including organizing trainings, creating briefings and working across regions and GRACE to ensure a seamless and cohesive volunteer experience.
  • Grow ADL’s base of volunteer support and help create a network of ambassadors and messengers to represent ADL when and where appropriate and strategic, including at public meetings.
  • Assist in implementation of State and Federal advocacy campaigns.
  • Provide ongoing input, information, and materials (as requested) that support internal and external communication efforts about programming and opportunities.
  • Build organizational relationships with partners and allies in advocacy, community organizing, and policy.
  • Manage interns as needed on community engagement projects.
  • Liaise with other departments and colleagues at ADL as needed.
  • Provide support for logistical needs of Community Engagement work.

Qualifications

Skills: 

  • Technology skills including expertise with Microsoft Office and database management; willingness to learn new applications and identify innovative ways for technology to support organizational objectives.

 Work Experience: 

  • 3- 5 years experience in electoral work, volunteer management, social impact design, project management, community organizing or other related areas required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.

Work Environment:

  • Flexibility is required to work extended hours or on weekends as may be needed.
  • Ability to spend long hours on occasion at workstation/computer, including on video meetings/calls.
  • Occasional travel is required to attend meetings, events and conferences.
  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to CDC, State, local, and Federal orders regarding COVID-19. ADL will require that all employees are vaccinated with exceptions for medical and religious accommodations. ADL may require proof of vaccination. This role will start as a remote position but may transition to a hybrid environment when offices reopen.

Compensation:

  • This position is a Grade F1, which has an average salary range of $76,000 - $96,000. This salary range is reflective of a position in New York, New York.

    Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
