    The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), founded in 1913, is the nation’s premier civil rights/human relations agency, fighting anti-Semitism all forms of bigotry and hate, defending democratic ideals, and protecting civil rights for all. ADL achieves its mission through disseminating information to raise awareness, education youth, training law enforcement, speaking out in defense of civil liberties, and advocating for policies and positions that promote social justice.

     

    PRIMARY FUNCTION:

     

    Focused on portfolio management, donor stewardship and gift solicitation, the ideal candidate will be committed to advancing the goals and mission of ADL. Emphasis will be placed on qualifying, managing, and soliciting top-tier donors and prospects in Manhattan. The successful candidate enjoys being a part of a collaborative and energetic team and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced organization. This position will report to ADL NY/NJ’s Director of Development and will work collaboratively with ADL’s National Growth team.

     

    Responsibilities

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist in the management and enhancement of a robust donor portfolio; including but not limited to donor cultivation, solicitations and prospect research.
    • Design and execute customized cultivation and solicitation strategies, matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor or prospect. Ensure necessary follow-up and stewardship.
    • Conduct face-to-face solicitations and secure new gifts, gift renewals or gift increases from individuals capable of making four and five figure contributions.
    • Initiate and conduct donor research. Create concise and accurate research profiles using an array of data (i.e. biographical information, philanthropic history, etc.). 
    • Ensure donor and prospect strategies and communications are updated in ADL’s CRM database, in accordance with department policies and procedures.
    • In coordination with the Assistant Director of Development, coordinate and execute periodic donor stewardship events.

    SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain an active, current body of knowledge of ADL and its mission, programs, activities, and fundraising priorities.
    • Stay abreast of philanthropic trends.
    • Uphold excellence in both written and verbal communications, as well as a dedication to superior customer service with an emphasis on relationship building. 
    • Assist the Development team on special assignments to ensure long-term donor engagement and retention and support the successful completion of the region’s annual campaign.

    Qualifications

    Work Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
    • Three to five years of fundraising and development experience required.
    • Demonstrated success in donor stewardship and closing four and five figure gifts.
    • Strong familiarity with the NY/NJ philanthropic community is preferred, but not required.
    • Experience working in a national organization with an affiliate or chapter structure a plus.

     Skills:

    • Ability to manage with highly sensitive, confidential information using excellent judgment at all times.
    • Demonstrated analytical skills related to complex donor research and information. 
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook), donor research platforms (i.e. Wealth Engine, Lexus Nexus) and database management software (Salesforce).

    Work Environment:

    • Flexibility to work evenings required.
    • Desire to work and grow as a part of a highly motivated, dynamic and expanding Development team.

    • Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.
